Full-Stack Developer

About this role
We're building Reffy, the recruiting platform that doesn't suck. Think "Tinder for talent" but actually useful and way less creepy. You'll be our second engineer, working directly with the CTO (that's how early-stage we are) to build the core platform from the ground up. You'll touch everything: matching algorithms, user interfaces, data pipelines, and whatever else needs building. This isn't a "maintain legacy code" gig - this is a "let's build something that changes how people find jobs" opportunity.
Skills We Value
You can build full-stack apps that people actually want to use , , or similar)
Database design and API development don't make you break out in hives
You've worked at startups before (or at least understand the chaos)
You can move fast without completely breaking things
AWS/cloud deployment experience (because someone has to keep the lights on)
Bonus points if you've been frustrated by job hunting and want to fix it
What Success Looks Like
First month: You're shipping features and have figured out our codebase.
3 months: You've built key platform features that recruiters and candidates actually use.
6 months: You're leading technical decisions and maybe complaining about how we should have built differently from day one.
12 months: You're interviewing your own team members and have strong opinions about our tech stack.
A Day in the Life
Morning: Coffee + sync with CTO about what's broken and what needs building.
Mid-morning: Deep focus coding time (we protect this religiously).
Lunch: Maybe catch up with the GTM team about what features users are actually asking for.
Afternoon: More coding, some debugging, possibly questioning your life choices about joins.
Evening: Push to production and pray nothing breaks (just kidding, we have staging).
Benefits & Perks
What we offer our team
Equity package (early employee = meaningful ownership)
Flexible remote work (office in Melbourne)
Learning budget for courses, conferences, whatever keeps you sharp
Being able to say "I built this"
The satisfaction of building something from zero
Compensation Philosophy
How we think about pay
We pay competitively because good engineers have options. Our equity is real - we're Antler-backed, and actually solving a problem people pay for. You'll own a meaningful piece of what we're building.
Interview Process
What to expect
We keep it real and efficient:
(1) 30-min chat with our CTO to see if we vibe and talk through your experience
(2) Technical conversation where we dive into your approach to building scalable systems + challenge.
(3) Meet the GTM co-founder because you'll work closely together.
Whole thing takes about 10 days max. We give feedback quickly and won't leave you hanging.
Meet Your Team
Who you'll work with
You'll be employee #3, working directly with the founders who met through our own platform (yes, we actually use what we build). We're building the recruiting tool we wish existed when we were job hunting. Small team means your voice actually matters, no politics, and definitely no "that's not my job" attitudes. We're remote-first, direct but not jerks about it, and believe the best ideas win regardless of who suggests them. Fair warning: you'll probably end up with opinions about recruiting, hiring, and why most job boards are terrible.
