The bare roots of the job…
The Forest Technicians will provide field support to Plantations, Wood Supply, Sustainability, Fire Management, Resource Information and Tree Improvement, with the aim of delivering annual operational objectives.
A crew of two Forest Technicians will work together in the North East region of Tasmania and be based out of Techno Park in Kings Meadows, and two Forest Technicians will work together in the North West region and be based out of our Ridgley office, just outside of Burnie.
Who will join our journey…
These positions would ideally suit individuals who are outdoorsy people and would enjoy working in a forest environment. Candidates who have a drivers licence, map and GPS skills as well as basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) and GIS mapping experience would be a good fit. In addition to this, previous exposure to 4WDriving, chainsaws, chemical spraying, drone operation or the interest to acquire these skills would be very desirable.
Our ideal candidates will be physically fit, have good communication skills, the ability to problem solve, and a proactive attitude. Further, demonstrated motivation and integrity, and the ability to follow instructions and work safely in a team environment are required. The successful incumbents will also participate in a regular weekend standby roster assisting with basic fire-fighting.
