About the role:

This full-time position will participate in all activities related to the operation of the Log yard and entire outdoor area. We are seeking a mechanically minded individual to perform a variety of operational functions in the Log yard team.

This position is required to work across Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:06pm and 10:00am – 6:06pm.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Operating Gantry Crane;
  • Operating Chipper Crane;
  • Maintaining equipment, sharpening chipper knives and chainsaw chains;
  • Machine maintenance and inspections, through pre-start checks, general fault finding and monitoring flow rates;
  • Operating the Loader;
  • Operating a chainsaw;
  • General housekeeping.

To be successful in the role:

  • Willing to undergo on-site training CB class High Risk Licence - Bridge and Gantry Crane Operator;
  • Willing to undergo on-site training in Log yard operations, operating machinery; Cranes, Loader, Chainsaw;
  • Be mechanically minded;
  • Have good communication skills;
  • Able to work in a small team environment and take individual initiative;
  • Be safety conscious, follow safety procedures and be mindful of workplace hazards for yourself and others;
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug testing.

Alpine MDF Industries is a leading wood processing facility based in Wangaratta, North East Victoria. We manufacture and distribute MDF products both nationally and internationally, providing stable employment for over 140 local workers.

Our primary focus is the production of Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF), widely used in the construction and related industries. In addition to our core manufacturing operations, we operate an on-site re-manufacturing facility, enhancing raw MDF into high-quality building products. These include pre-painted skirting boards, architraves, door and window components, and decorative wall lining panels.
