As a Staff Engineer in our IB&M Data Engineering team, you will apply Data Mesh principles to design, build, and operate cloud-native applications, and to deploy and manage large-scale, complex big-data workloads. You will bring deep expertise in cloud technologies, automation, and infrastructure as code (IaC), ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. 

Working with our stakeholders in the Data and Platform crew, you will help drive our commitments in our Data Strategy to achieve our vision of becoming the best AI Bank in the world to better serve our customers.  

You will collaborate with industry leaders to drive forward our mission of revolutionising the fintech landscape. As part of our team, you will be designing and implementing cloud-native, scalable, and federated data architectures using AWS Services. 

We are interested in hearing from people who 

• Pride themselves on their experience and knowledge with building data mesh architectures with AWS services, including S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Lake formation and IAM roles and permissions 

• Strong software development background using Python, Spark or DBT/SQL 

• Have expertise in data integration, cleansing, modelling, warehousing, and developing pipelines. 

• Demonstrable hands-on experience in building and running infrastructure in AWS with a proven track record of (IaC) development using Terraform 

• DevOps mindset, with a drive to automate processes and workflows 

• Are knowledgeable of financial markets and, or corporate & institutional lending products  

Tech Skills 
 
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team 

• Certified AWS Solution Architect or Software Engineer 

• Python, Spark or DBT/SQL 

• Solid experience and expertise working with AWS Infrastructure & AWS technologies (S3, Glue, EMR, Lake formation, SageMaker) 

• Expertise with Snowflake Data warehouse  

• Experience with Open Table Formats (e.g. Apache Iceberg) 

• Source control, and CI/CD tooling with GitHub Actions 

• DevOps tooling and infrastructure management using Terraform, Ansible and Artifactory  

• Experience with containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)

• Proficiency with Observability tooling including Prometheus, Grafana, Observe
