About the Role
The programs department at Acacia prison delivers offence specific interventions that focus on targeting specific prisoner needs, including violence and addictions. Programs are co-facilitated for 10-12 participants under the supervision of a Senior Psychologist/Social Worker and Program Manager. Our programs encourage, challenge, and empower individuals to make positive and pro-social choices to benefit themselves, the prison and the wider community. As a Psychologist or Social Worker within the Programs Department, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate group-based interventions, in addition to supporting your peers with professional development. You will be required to prepare documents such as case notes and completion of reports. Your accurate reporting skills with see you providing defendable documentation relating to prisoners' progress.
About You
You are a qualified and experienced Psychologist OR Social Worker with experience in facilitating programs in a similar environment, or in the community, and understand risk relating to offending behaviours. You have knowledge of cognitive behavioural approaches to facilitate change in offender behaviour. You have knowledge of the "What Works" literature, the Risk Needs Responsivity model, and the Good Lives Model.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
Psychologist: Degree in Psychology AND eligible for full registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Association (AHPRA)
Social Worker: Degree in Social Work; AND eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Demonstrated experience in delivering group facilitation, ideally within a correctional, welfare or other institutional setting
Solid understanding of evidence-based practices in the assessment and intervention of different psychological and behavioural presentations
Knowledge of the social and clinical variables associated with major offense categories
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes national police check and Department of Justice Clearance as an essential selection component for this role.

Acacia Prison is a medium security prison facility which opened in May 2001. Located in Wooroloo, Western Australia approximately an hours' drive from Perth.
