We are seeking an organised & proactive Machinist/Wheel Repairer to join our well-equipped specialist facility in Mackay where we overhaul OTR (Off the Road) Wheel Assemblies. Come work on the largest wheels in the world

The Opportunity
- Purpose-built OEM Overhaul facility designed for cutting, machining and welding of OTR wheels
- Vertical lathes for weld preparation machining
- Specialised Submerged-Arc rotary welders
- Automated plasma cutter, shot blasting equipment
- Operation of Vertical Lathes to machine wheels for overhaul
- Machining of weld preparation
- Backgouge machining for full-penetration welding
- Machining of various other wheel components
- Permanent fulltime position with immediate start

- Mon-Fri role, 38 hour week with overtime
- Overhead crane operation
- Relief-operation of Submerged Arc Welders
- Work to best practice & the service standard protocols of BMSA & our customers
- Ensure all equipment used on site meets operational requirements & allow work to be carried out in a safe manner
- Ensure that every wheel is inspected & complies to BMSA QMS after each process stage of repair
- Ensure that any work task performed outside the identified Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) be risk assessed & reviewed by an appropriate supervisor prior to commencing work required
- Ensure all required documentation is accurately completed
About You - Essential
- Strong commitment to safety of yourself & others
- Appropriate trade qualifications/experience in machining/welding/heavy fabrication
- Fit & able to carry out manual labour requirements
- Punctual, reliable & a team player with a can-do attitude
- Looking for skills & career development
- Must have current work rights in Australia
About You - Preferred
- Forklift HRWL
- Dogging HRWL
- Additional qualifications, certificates or experience with Submerged-arc welding, handling hazardous materials, painting, machining, drill operation, grit blasting etc
- Valid drivers licence
- Experience in the mining or related industries
