About this role

With your skills and experience, you will contribute to the many ways we improve public health across NSW. The Manager, Public Health Communications & Behaviour Change leads the development, execution and evaluation of evidence-based communication and behaviour change initiatives, including statewide social marketing campaigns. You will shape public health communications in response to emerging issues, and lead stakeholder communication to ensure people across the state have the information they need to stay keep healthy, safe and connected to the care they need.

You will guide staff, build system-wide relationships, and lead work that helps communities make healthier choices—bringing behavioural science, research, creativity and strategic communication together to deliver measurable outcomes.

Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $149,739 - $ 173,174 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing

You'll lead a small team to design and deliver evidence-based public health communications and behaviour-change initiatives, including statewide social marketing campaigns. You'll also oversee high-quality public health messaging, issues response, and stakeholder engagement across NSW Health.

  • Lead and guide staff to deliver integrated, evidence-based campaigns and communication strategies.
  • Oversee statewide marketing and behaviour-change initiatives that meet NSW Government advertising requirements.
  • Develop high-quality written materials including strategies, messaging, briefs and reports.
  • Coordinate communication and engagement responses to emerging public health issues.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across government, NGOs, research partners and the health system.

About you

We are seeking a motivated and strategic leader who brings:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering communication, social marketing or behaviour-change initiatives within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of behavioural insights and evidence-based approaches to public health communications.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability across government, NGOs, community partners and internal teams.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience translating complex information into clear, compelling content.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, lead a team and oversee multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
