ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept through to bulk approval and supplier handover. You'll lead the development of category strategies and bring full collection visions to life, ensuring cohesion across design, buying, and commercial goals. Acting as a key leader within the Product Development team, you'll inspire and guide buyers and BAAs while working cross-functionally with Design, Production, and Merch Planning to deliver ranges that launch on time, in full, and to brand standard. This is a highly visible role suited to someone with strong leadership skills, sharp commercial acumen, and the ability to translate creative ideas into commercially successful collections in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Manage ranges from initial concept through to bulk approval, ensuring products align with brand vision and commercial strategy.
- Drive the critical path alongside the Production department, oversee all product timelines, ensuring deadlines are met from prototype to production handover.
- Take ownership of all product categories, ensuring the right balance of styles, fabrics, and price points to meet customer demand.
- Deliver on margin targets, overseeing all negotiating of costs and managing product pricing architecture in line with OTB.
- Monitor competitors and global fashion trends, applying insights to create innovative and commercially successful ranges. A strong eye is key.
- Partner with Design, Production, and Merch Planning to deliver cohesive ranges that launch on time and in full considering all customer key moments across Australia, USA & Uk/Europe.
- Work closely with suppliers on developments, approvals, and negotiations, building strong relationships to support growth. In addition to this further supplier sourcing and strategising is a key element of this role.
- Ensure all styles are production-ready, driving fit sessions, sample reviews, and sign-offs to brand standard.
- Analyse product sell-through and customer feedback, making data-led decisions to inform future ranges.
- Mentor and support Buyers/BAAs, fostering a high-performance culture within the Product Development team.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING
- Proven experience in a buying or product development role within fashion retail, managing full collections end-to-end.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance trend direction, margin targets, and customer insights.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills, with a track record of driving cost efficiencies and margin improvements.
- Strong understanding of range planning, OTB alignment, and category ownership.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple categories and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in reviewing trade performance to inform future range decisions.
- A strong eye for product, with a MESHKI aesthetic eye for detail.
