About the Role

We're working with a client seeking a Data Engineer to join their team and take ownership of key platform enhancements, data pipeline development, and operational support activities. This is a 12-month fixed term contract paying up to $134,000 inclusive of super, with a high likelihood of extension.

Based in Perth, the role offers a flexible hybrid setup with 4 days working from home and 1 day in the office ideal for someone who thrives in a balanced, delivery-driven environment.

In this hands-on position, you'll lead development across multiple platforms, contribute to Synapse and pipeline solutions, and support business operations and client-specific initiatives. You'll also work closely with stakeholders and delivery partners, applying both Agile and ITIL methodologies to help drive data engineering excellence.

You Should Have

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Data Engineering
  • Strong technical skills in Azure, SQL, Python and Synapse
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining data pipelines and Synapse solutions
  • Familiarity with both ITIL and Agile delivery methods
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience delivering and optimising data models and pipeline performance
  • Ability to contribute to technical support, impact assessments, and change readiness

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to DBT and Data Warehousing environments
  • Familiarity with Power BI or related reporting tools
  • Experience working in government or healthcare settings
  • Ability to collaborate with vendors and managed service providers
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance and support data platforms, pipelines, and business-critical solutions
  • Provide operational support through the organisation's ITIL-based ticketing system
  • Lead and manage Agile delivery of data engineering projects
  • Design, develop, and maintain data models and pipelines in Azure
  • Conduct impact analyses and support change management processes
  • Liaise with delivery partners and vendors to guide technical delivery
  • Contribute to small-scale Power BI and analytics initiatives
  • Help define and monitor success metrics for data infrastructure
