The Role
The Town is seeking a dedicated and waste-focused individual to join as Coordinator of Waste Services. In this role, you will lead and implement waste disposal, collection, and recycling programs with a strong emphasis on waste minimisation and customer service. You will coordinate the Town's waste management initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation and Council policies, while delivering community education, managing budgets, overseeing contracts, and conducting research to support the Town's future waste operations.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate's core values will mirror the Town's values of Friendly and helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proven experience in waste management operations, preferably within a local government or public sector setting.
- Knowledge of local and state regulations regarding waste management, such as compliance with the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007 (WA) and related policies.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including the implementation of waste reduction or resource recovery initiatives
- Experience managing contracts and service agreements for waste collection, recycling, or disposal services.
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders and influence to gain cooperation and support.
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, waste management education or equivalent and previous experience in a local government environment will be highly regarded.
- Experience in application of the Microsoft suite of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
