Technical Sales Representative

Unique opportunity to join an industry leading team in horticultural seeds as a Sales and Product Development position servicing regional Victoria/NSW. This highly attractive, fast pace position is ideal for candidates based in greater Melbourne, looking to grow and develop their career in horticulture.

HM Clause is one of the world and local leaders in the vegetable seeds industry. We specialize in the breeding, production, and sales of vegetable seeds. From the world market to the farmer's market, we collaborate with our customers to deliver successful solutions for the agricultural challenges of today, and produce the highest quality seeds for the future.

You are the link between our global network of plant breeders, working with regional product development to deliver commercial products for local markets.

Key responsibilities:

Client base

• Build & maintain our client base through regular visits and contact with customers to understand and meet their specific needs in an ever-changing market
• Our customer base includes: Growers/farmers/end users of our seed products; plant raising nurseries; local horticultural distributors, produce marketers, retail chains

Product development

• Work with product development team to develop and execute a trial plan that targets key markets
• This includes placing variety trials with key customers, assessing those trials and reporting on adaptability and commercial potential of new genetics

Sales

• Consistently update a sales forecast based on your understanding of the local market
• Develop and execute a strategy to meet sales forecast targets with support from the regional business manager

Must-Have: Highly organised, Interpersonal Skills & Teamwork, Attention to detail

Technical / Behavioral Skills: Excellent oral & written communication, excellent time management skills, proactive problem solving skills, demonstrate responsibility for actions & decisions, professionalism and sales and negotiation skills, desire to travel extensively in the assigned territory and work outdoors.

Systems / Software: Intermediate MS Office experience

Experience (Industry): Preferred but not necessary.

Experience (Years): 3 years minimum in a related agricultural position required

Education: Tertiary qualifications in horticulture or agriculture preferred but not essential

Licenses / Certifications: Drivers licence
