Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Aussie Broadband Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year
We're looking for two Security Engineers who are curious, collaborative, and driven to make a meaningful impact. These are 24-month maximum term contract roles.

In these roles, you'll help protect Aussie Broadband and our customers by managing security platforms, responding to threats, and driving continuous improvement. You'll work across teams to embed security practices, guide incident response, and contribute to a culture that values clarity, care, and a bit of fun.

If you're passionate about cybersecurity and thrive in a fast-paced, people-first environment - this could be your next move.

At Aussie Broadband we believe difference is something to celebrate. Being advocates for Inclusion and Diversity means our team can bring their whole selves to work and allows us to better represent our customers and the communities that we serve. As a proud Equal Opportunity Employer, supporting and celebrating difference is just one way that we demonstrate our value of 'Be good to people' everyday.

Join us as we continue to grow and make a mark as the 5th largest telco in Australia

Why work for Aussie?

Founded in regional Victoria almost 20 years ago, we are local from the ground up. What started in a living room in Morwell, has now expanded to every corner of Australia - we're growing fast and not slowing down

Our fantastic culture lives and breathes our values:

  • Don't be ordinary, be awesome

  • Think BIG

  • No bullsh*t

  • Be good to people

  • Have fun

We are proud to be a B Corp Certified company, which means we're good to our people, our customers, and the planet by maintaining the highest standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

We care about our community through our Pledge 1% commitment, sponsorship programs and our paid staff community service leave offering.

But don't just take our word for it – We have been named one of the top employers in Australia by HRD magazine.

The good stuff

  • 26 weeks paid parental leave for both primary and secondary caregivers (in addition to any government-paid leave)

  • Discounted internet up to the value of $109 per month

  • 20% off our Mobile services

  • Day to day benefits like flexible working arrangements, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), discounts with big names like Specsavers, HCF and many more

  • Celebrating you With monthly rewards and recognition

  • Internal training and resources for you to continue to learn, grow and achieve your career goals

  • Yearly allowance for amazing Aussie merch

  • Fitness Passport for access to multiple gyms and pools across Australia

Let's talk about you

You're curious and thrive in fast-paced environments. You bring a strong technical foundation in cybersecurity and a mindset that's focused on real-world impact. You're not afraid to explore assumptions, dive deep into risks, and speak plainly about what needs to be done. You enjoy collaborating with others, rolling up your sleeves when needed, and using humour to build trust and connection.

  • Have hands-on experience with operating systems, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), networks, firewalls, and security tools

  • Understand threats, vulnerabilities, attack methods, and security frameworks (ISO27001, NIST, SOCI, ASD Essential 8)

  • Are familiar with threat modelling (STRIDE, PASTA), scripting (PowerShell, Python), and logging best practices

  • Communicate clearly, stay organised, and work well on your own or in a team

  • Bonus points if you bring telco experience, relevant certifications (e.g. CISSP, CCSP), or a risk-based mindset

  • Are constructive, friendly, and bring a sense of humour to the team

  • Think like a mentor, solve problems quickly, and adapt with ease

How will you support our "Why?"

At Aussie Broadband, our "why" is to connect Australians to what matters most. As our Security Engineer, you'll help us live our values by being awesome, thinking big, cutting through the noise, being good to people, and having fun. You'll do this by protecting our business and customers from cyber threats, while building a culture of trust, clarity, and continuous improvement.

  • Maintain and optimise security platforms like SIEM, TIP, and vulnerability tools

  • Build automation playbooks and detection reasoning to improve threat response

  • Investigate alerts, assess impact, and guide forensic activities

  • Contribute to the security roadmap and drive remediation of risks

  • Collaborate across teams to embed controls and raise awareness

  • Track timelines, manage risks, and deliver security initiatives
