About The Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hairdresser to join our dynamic team. The role encompasses providing advice on hair care, beauty products and hairstyles; shampooing hair and conditioning scalps; colouring, straightening and permanently waving hair with chemical solutions; cutting hair with scissors, clippers and razors; styling hair into dreadlocks and braids and adding hair extensions; shaving and trimming beards and moustaches; cleaning work areas and sanitising instruments; and arranging appointments and collecting payments. The position may also involve cleaning, colouring, cutting and styling wigs and hairpieces.

Tasks Include:

• Provide professional advice on hair care, beauty products, and suitable hairstyles.
• Perform shampooing, conditioning, colouring, straightening, and chemical hair treatments.
• Cut and style hair using scissors, clippers, and razors, including standard cuts, scissor cuts, buzz cuts, fades, skin fades, and senior/child cuts.
• Deliver precision grooming services including beard trims, shaping, line-ups, and traditional straight razor shaves.
• Create and maintain styles such as dreadlocks, braids, hair extensions, and wig/hairpiece services.
• Provide additional grooming services including head shaves, head massages, and men's facial waxing (cheek, ear, and nose).
• Provide women's hairdressing services including ladies' cuts, blow-dries, styling, colouring, highlights, and treatments.
• Deliver professional up-dos and event styling for special occasions (e.g. weddings, functions).
• Ensure work areas are kept clean, hygienic, and instruments sanitised at all times.
• Manage client appointments, provide excellent customer service, and process payments.
• Proficiency in modern colouring techniques, including Balayage, highlights, and full colour transformations.
• Demonstrated ability in women's hairdressing techniques, including cutting, colouring, and styling.
• Experience with both men's and women's hair services, ensuring flexibility to work across diverse clients.

Qualifications, experience and other requirements for Hairdresser:

• A relevant AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in hairdressing (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) or in lieu of at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in hairdressing.
• Ability to provide home care and product advice to support client hair health and maintenance.
• Ability to stay current with modern hair and grooming trends.
• Strong client service and interpersonal skills, with a professional and personable presentation.
• Capacity to build and maintain positive client relationships.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Commitment to maintaining hygiene, safety, and workplace cleanliness always.
