About the Role

We are seeking an experienced
Senior Project Planner
to lead the development and management of a
Level 4 construction schedule
for a major gold processing plant in Western Australia. This role will be responsible for integrating engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities into a fully resourced and cost-loaded schedule, ensuring project milestones are achieved on time and within budget. You will be sitting over 2 or 3 other planners and focussed on the analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Schedule Development & Management

  • Build, maintain, and optimise the detailed Level 4 schedule using Primavera P6.
  • Integrate engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Establish and maintain the project baseline, progress measurement, and change control processes.

Project Integration

  • Align the schedule with engineering deliverables, procurement milestones, and vendor fabrication timelines.
  • Incorporate subcontractor schedules into the master EPC schedule.
  • Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to sequence activities for safe and efficient execution.

Progress & Reporting

  • Track performance against baseline using earned value and rules of credit.
  • Identify and manage the critical path and near-critical activities.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, look-aheads, S-curves, and resource histograms.
  • Present schedule status and recovery plans to internal management and the client.

Risk & Recovery Planning

  • Conduct "what-if" and scenario analysis for potential delays.
  • Develop mitigation and acceleration plans to address schedule risks.
  • Identify and resolve constraints affecting schedule performance.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with engineering managers, procurement leads, construction managers, commissioning leads, and subcontractors.
  • Provide clear communication of schedule requirements and impacts across all project functions.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 8–12+ years' experience in project planning and scheduling, with at least 3–5 years in mining and metals construction.
  • Proven track record in delivering Level 4 schedules for major process plant projects.
  • Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Excel. Ineight for QMR alignment.
  • Strong understanding of gold processing plant construction sequencing (crushing, grinding, CIL/CIP, elution, electrowinning, tailings, infrastructure).
  • Experience in integrating procurement and vendor packages into the EPC schedule.
  • Knowledge of commissioning and ramp-up sequencing.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • AACEi PSP or PMI-SP certification.
  • Previous experience on gold or other precious metal projects in Western Australia.
  • Exposure to project reporting tools such as Power BI or EcoSys.
