About the role

Geotechnology WA is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team in our Perth office. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing expert geotechnical advice, designs and judgement for critical projects across a diverse range of railway and mine infrastructure projects. This is a full-time position based in our Perth office or working remotely for the right candidate.

Experience in railway and mining infrastructure projects would be advantageous.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan, oversee and manage geotechnical projects
  • Develop geotechnical ground models and define suitable parameters based on field investigations, laboratory test results and your judgement
  • Analyse soil and rock properties to assess foundation, slope stability, ground improvements, pavements and earthworks requirements for projects utlising industry standard software and innovative methods
  • Prepare detailed factual and interpretive geotechnical reports, specifications, and design recommendations
  • Liaise with team members, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and communicated
  • Undertake forensic engineering and design of improvement works
  • Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and proposals
  • Some fieldwork will be required, however this does not form the main component of the role

What we're looking for

  • Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, preferably with post-graduate qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in a consultancy environment. Experience client side is also welcome
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing geotechnical models, analysing data, and providing design recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficient in the use of geotechnical software and modelling tools
  • Experience with PLAXIS (or comparable alternative) and GeoStudio software platforms is required
