The Firm

This successful small firm specialises in both transactional and litigation work. Our office is located at Toukley with plenty of parking nearby. The firm is committed to innovative and environmentally friendly office practices. Our clients range from young to old, mums and dads to professionals and small businesses to large corporate groups.

The firm is in a growth phase and is looking to hire one, potentially two, family law solicitors to help manage a high volume of family law clients, as well as assisting with other litigation matters. We are willing to consider anyone from 0 to 7 year PQE lawyer. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

The Role

You will be working full time at the Toukley office and relevant courts. With no two days the same, this fast paced and varied role will have you dealing with a broad range of family law matters. With appropriate training, you will become familiar with all aspects of family law and court process.

The successful applicant will work closely with one of the senior solicitors of the firm, as well as have sole carriage of their own matters, involving divorce, financial settlement, child related matters and child support matters.  Court appearances (which will involve travel) will also encompass part of the successful applicant's role.

Cultural fit is hugely important to this practice and we require someone who will really become part of the team. You will hopefully look at this role in the long term and be keen to establish and build a successful career with the firm.

The Candidate

To be successful for this role you must have:

  • An interest in family law and litigation. Previous litigation experience is preferred, but not essential
  • An appreciation that living through a breakdown of relationship can be a stressful time for your client which is demonstrated in your excellent people skills and ability to balance client interests with tight deadlines
  • A high degree of computer literacy. Experience using LEAP, Outlook and Word is preferable but not essential
  • Very high attention to detail (hint: make sure there are no spelling or grammatical mistakes in your resume)
  • Very high organisation and time management skills
  • Drivers licence
  • Own or have regular access to a car
  • A flexible, enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Immaculate presentation and a professional phone manner
  • A current Australian legal practicing certificate (or within your final year of LL.B.)
