Our client, a growing Australian VFX studio based in Queensland, is looking for Mid to Senior Houdini FX Artists to join their talented team. The studio is gaining recognition for its work on great long-form projects — including high-end feature films and international episodic series — and offers a supportive, collaborative environment where artists are trusted and empowered.

About the Role

You'll be delivering high-end FX work across a range of exciting, long-form live-action productions. From large-scale destruction to intricate natural phenomena, this is an opportunity to contribute to major cinematic and streaming projects that require technical precision and creative flair.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality FX using Houdini for long-form live-action VFX shots
  • Collaborate closely with the CG and comp teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Develop and optimize FX setups for both visual quality and performance
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical solutions throughout production
  • Contribute to the studio's growing pipeline and FX toolkit

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years professional experience in a VFX studio
  • Strong Houdini skills with a proven track record in FX simulation (smoke, fire, water, destruction, magical effects, etc.)
  • A live-action reel showcasing polished, high-end FX work
  • Experience working on long-form content such as features or premium series
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team

Preferred

  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, VEX) and FX pipeline tools
  • Based in Queensland or open to relocating
  • Remote considered for exceptional talent with a strong reel and long-form experience
