The Opportunity:

Commencing Term 1 2026, or earlier if available, we have an exciting opportunity for an inspiring and passionate Early Childhood Co-Educator. This position will be instrumental in supporting the implementation of our 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten program at Pinemont Pre-School.

About Pinemont Pre-School:

Pinemont Preschool is a long standing and well-established community pre-school, governed by a dedicated parent-based Committee of Management. We are a well-resourced and innovative sessional kindergarten that recently underwent Assessment and Rating and for the third time received Exceeding in all 7 Quality Areas of the National Quality Standards.

Our philosophy emphasizes that children learn best through play and direct engagement with their environment. This belief is woven into our curriculum. We employ developmentally appropriate practices to cater to the diverse abilities and needs of each child, both individually and within a group setting, creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Our curriculum prioritizes intentional and open-ended play experiences, fostering problem-solving skills and physical development while offering a flexible, stimulating environment that promotes children's agency and supports their growth to their fullest potential. We place great importance on building genuine, positive relationships with children, families and staff through effective communication and collaboration, building a strong sense of community.

The desired candidate will have:

  • A Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent)
  • A passion for working in Early Education, along with an ability to clearly and positively communicate and connect with children, parents and colleagues
  • An ability to work effectively with Early Childhood Teachers and other Co-Educators to deliver a high-quality learning program, while creating a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Understanding and patience in addressing diverse needs and behaviours of young children
  • A strong understanding of Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS)
  • Previous experience in sessional kindergartens is desirable but not essential
  • First Aid training
  • Emergency asthma management qualification
  • Management of anaphylaxis qualification
  • Valid Working with Children Check (Employee) and Mandatory Reporting

Hours:

34.5 hrs in total hrs Contact Hours, 7hr Non- contact Hours

Monday and Tuesday- 8:30am to 4:15pm

Wednesday -11am to 4pm

Thursday and Friday -8:15am to 4:15pm

Any additional hours will be paid at VECTEA award rate of pay.

Selection Criteria

  • In 200 words or less describe what you see as important when working with young children
