We're looking for a Field Applications Specialist to join a highly dedicated team and help drive success across laboratories by delivering tailored solutions, training, and expert product guidance.

About the organisation and the position

A leading manufacturer of IVD instruments and Research equipment is seeking a skilled Applications Specialist to join their high-performing team in Sydney.

As a key member of the Customer Care department, you will ensure the successful delivery, configuration, testing, and support of innovative LIS/Middleware solutions within hospitals, pathology labs, and research facilities. You will work across a broad spectrum of tasks—from system implementations and training to software testing, customer support, and pre-sales consultations.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong analytical thinking, a clinical science background, and a genuine interest in healthcare technology.

Responsibilities

·       Deliver product implementations including configuration, deployment, and customer training

·       Perform product testing: write and execute test scripts, log defects, and contribute to release documentation

·       Develop and deliver product training materials for both customers and internal teams

·       Support site visits with hands-on training, consultancy, and post-visit reporting

·       Collaborate on product development and improvement by participating in design sessions and offering customer-focused insights

·       Provide customer support through troubleshooting, ticket management, and user guidance

·       Assist Sales and Marketing with product presentations, pre-sales input, and tender responses

·       Ensure all work aligns with quality management and compliance standards

·       Proactively contribute to ongoing process, product, and service improvements

Skills and experience

·       Tertiary qualifications in Science - e.g. Biology, Biomedicine, or Physics (or equivalent experience)

·       At least 3–5 years' experience in a pathology laboratory or similar healthcare environment

·       Strong knowledge of Middleware/LIS systems and their applications

·       Proven ability to configure, test, and troubleshoot complex software products

·       Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing specifications, risk assessments, and training documentation

·       Solid analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction

·       Comfortable working independently, managing time and priorities effectively

·       Willingness to travel nationally (and occasionally internationally)

·       Ability to participate in an on-call support roster outside of standard office hours
