Our work focuses on health, access to clean water, sanitation, improved food security and nutrition for families in the heartlands of surfing.

The role

SurfAid is looking for a motivated
Fundraising and Events Manager
who brings initiative, resourcefulness, and strong community skills to help drive the growth of our fundraising programs and strengthen our connection with supporters. This role suits someone who loves events, enjoys building meaningful relationships, and naturally chooses to do the right thing. You'll thrive if you're energised by being part of a small, purpose-driven team and feel confident engaging with a wide range of people.

Working closely with the Chief Marketing and Fundraising Officer, you will play a key role in managing campaigns, coordinating SurfAid Cup events, supporting community fundraisers, and nurturing donors and partners. Your contribution will help diversify SurfAid's revenue streams and ensure we remain a leading charity for surfers globally.

Responsibilities

Campaign Management - 40%

  • Work with the Fundraising team to recruit and convert key financial and in-kind sponsors to our campaigns.
  • Manage year long relationships with sponsors to ensure repeat campaign participation.
  • Recruit stakeholders in line with the campaign strategy.
  • Work with community fundraisers to activate their participation and meet fundraising goals.
  • General campaign admin support as required. '

Event Management - (20%)

  • Manage the planning, delivery, execution and on-day operations of SurfAid Cup and other events annually.
  • Ensure event revenue is in line with budget.
  • Recruits and negotiates contracts with relevant vendors.
  • Recruits participating surfing teams. Nurtures teams to return year-on-year.
  • Supports community fundraisers to achieve their minimum fundraising commitments through coaching.
  • Provides end of event results analysis.
  • Supports other organisations events as required.

Donor Management (Mid, Major and Regular) - 25%

  • Implementation of the Donor Strategy, ensuring it ties in with the overall Fundraising Strategy.
  • Building connection to current and new donors and prospects, developing a prioritised portfolio and conversion plan that meets set financial targets.
  • Work closely with the Fundraising and Marketing team to develop a regular giving, mid-level and major donor communications plan.
  • Assisting with the development of materials that will support and enhance the relationships with donors.

Business Partnerships - 10%

  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing business and brand stakeholders.
  • Work with the communications team to develop story-telling content for partner activations.

Other - 5%

  • Supporting the CEO and broader teams with operational management where needed.
  • Maintaining records in Salesforce.

Critical Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as business or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage events, including mobilising support, monitoring and reporting of events.
  • Experience identifying, developing and maintaining strategic business relationships.
  • Experience managing the donor cycle, from onboarding through to maintenance and reconnecting.
  • Experience fostering donor relationships with entry-level, mid and major donors.
  • Experience consistently meeting financial targets.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines and manage workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Essential Skills

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Adaptable and responsive to the dynamic nature of a small organisation.

Desirable

  • Experience working for an NGO's or purpose-driven organisations.
  • An interest in international development.
  • Understanding of the fundraising or surfing sectors.

Job Type

The role is a part-time position of 0.8 loading Monday to Thursday. The role is on an initial one-year contract, with the potential to be extended. Capacity to go to full time during peak periods would be desirable.

Salary

$90,000 - $100,000 plus super and PBI salary packaging (pro rata)

Location

The candidate must be based in Sydney. The role is predominantly work from home with visits to SurfAid's Alexandria office. The role requires ad hoc attendance at community fundraising events after hours and on weekends.
