BOOKKEEPER POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION PURPOSE
To support the organisation's financial operations by managing bookkeeping, financial administration, and record-keeping functions. This role involves processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maintaining accurate and timely financial records. The position also requires an understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to ensure appropriate handling of participant-related financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new employees and homecare customers in MYOB, ensuring accurate employee and client records.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including pay queries, payroll tax, and PAYG withholding.
- Maintain and update staff details, appraisals, and employment information.
- Perform Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including AP payments and issuing Homecare/SIL irregular invoices.
- Conduct daily bank transaction checks and complete bank, AMEX card, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS statements, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage annual leave, long service leave, and portable long service leave accruals and reporting.
- Record and post journal entries accurately to maintain an up-to-date general ledger.
- Review and prepare outstanding debtor reports and monitor payments.
- Support year-end tax processes, audits, and financial reporting.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and preparation of reports to support management decisions.
- Attend to financial correspondence and queries promptly through emails and other communication channels.
- Contribute to overall team outcomes by supporting colleagues and ensuring timely completion of related accounting and administrative tasks.

Screening Requirements:

- Right to Work in Australia
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent (mandatory)
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Financial Administrator and Bookkeeper role within an office environment
- Proficiency in financial transactions, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Familiarity with disability-related matters and a strong understanding of NDIS
