About the Role

We are seeking a Project & Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. The role is centred on project management and stakeholder engagement — taking responsibility for end-to-end delivery of workshop fit outs, from initial scoping through to successful client handover.

You'll be the link between clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring projects run smoothly, on time, and within budget. While the role is project-focused, you'll also have the opportunity to support mechanical design initiatives alongside the engineering design team.

This position is best suited to an engineer with 2–4 years' experience, though strong graduates with outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage workshop fit out projects from concept to completion
  • Coordinate timelines, budgets, suppliers, and subcontractors across multiple sites (including interstate)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders
  • Develop and document scopes of work based on client needs and site inspections
  • Prepare quotes, budgets, and cost tracking for accurate and timely delivery
  • Conduct site visits to oversee installations and ensure compliance with specifications
  • Provide clear communication and updates to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to build and manage strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence in client-facing situations
  • Strong project coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2–4 years' experience in project coordination, engineering, or a similar role (graduates with exceptional skills will also be considered)
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a proactive mindset
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Valid Australian driver's licence

Bonus Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D) for layouts and product design
  • Experience with VBA, Power Apps, or Power Automate for process automation
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DfM), particularly for injection moulding and mass production
  • Prior experience in quoting, budgeting, or estimating
  • Familiarity with workshop/automotive equipment (hoists, air compressors, oil systems, etc.)

Why Join UNIPAC?

  • Lead projects with high-profile national automotive brands
  • A role that combines project management with opportunities to contribute to design and innovation
  • Career development in a supportive, growth-driven environment
  • Exposure to both technical engineering and client-facing project delivery
  • Interstate travel opportunities
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements once established
