About the role

As the Parks Program Officer, you'll play a key role in enhancing Hobart's parks and open spaces through strategic planning, contractor coordination, and community engagement. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage External contractors to ensure compliance with City of Hobart standards and specifications
  • Create the Park Care program, liaising with community groups and organising weekend activities and rosters
  • Maintain inspection programs for green assets and contribute to long-term park improvement and planting plans.
  • Respond professionally to public and elected member enquiries, ensuring all communications are documented appropriately.
  • Assist with budgeting, policy reviews, and service level documentation to support high-quality park management.

About you

You're a proactive and organised professional with a strong background in horticulture and parks management. To succeed in this role you will bring:

  • A certificate IV in Horticulture (or similar), a current Drivers Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
  • Demonstrated experience in managing parks operations, including contractor oversight and project delivery
  • Strong horticultural knowledge with the ability to prepare technical specifications and manage procurement processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, resolve issues, and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in maintaining asset databases and planning for both short and long-term park improvements.
