Location: Clearys Gates Employment status: Permanent Full-time Classification: Municipal Officer Level 3 Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024 Salary range: $91,138 per annum + 13.5% superannuation.
As the Parks Program Officer, you'll play a key role in enhancing Hobart's parks and open spaces through strategic planning, contractor coordination, and community engagement. Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage External contractors to ensure compliance with City of Hobart standards and specifications
- Create the Park Care program, liaising with community groups and organising weekend activities and rosters
- Maintain inspection programs for green assets and contribute to long-term park improvement and planting plans.
- Respond professionally to public and elected member enquiries, ensuring all communications are documented appropriately.
- Assist with budgeting, policy reviews, and service level documentation to support high-quality park management.

About youYou're a proactive and organised professional with a strong background in horticulture and parks management. To succeed in this role you will bring:
- A certificate IV in Horticulture (or similar), a current Drivers Licence and Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
- Demonstrated experience in managing parks operations, including contractor oversight and project delivery
- Strong horticultural knowledge with the ability to prepare technical specifications and manage procurement processes
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, resolve issues, and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in maintaining asset databases and planning for both short and long-term park improvements.
