What you'll contribute to

An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic Vehicle Certifications & Process Improvement Engineer to join our Product Planning & Development Division in a 12-month max term role.

The Product Planning & Development (PPD) Division is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all product initiatives to ensure new offerings are designed and optimized to meet future customer needs.

The Certifications & Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all vehicles sold and distributed in the Australian market comply with regulatory requirements and are registered with relevant government certification systems. In addition, this role reviews current processes and procedures to identify gaps and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and compliance.

This role based in Altona North with flexible work arrangements on offer.

How you'll make an impact  

  • Implement established certification procedures in alignment with defined policies to support regulatory compliance and achieve governance objectives.

  • Support the development of certification processes and procedures to enable timely and cost-effective vehicle compliance with applicable regulations and statutory requirements. Responsible for preparing and maintaining all necessary certification documentation, including application forms, test reports, and certificates.

  • Provide support through the review of documentation related to Australian Design Rules, United Nations Regulations (UNR), and Australian government certification submissions. Facilitate stakeholder engagement regarding regulatory updates or changes to ensure clear communication of all compliance, certification, and regulatory requirements, thereby minimising Toyota's risk exposure and potential liabilities.

  • Support project evaluations related to the introduction of new regulations, including feasibility assessments and analysis of their direct impact on Toyota.

  • Participate in project scheduling and planning activities, monitor performance against set targets within own area, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

Your attributes – If you've got one or more, we'd love to hear from you 

  • Engineering Qualification: Degree in Engineering or equivalent; eligibility for National Engineers Registration (NER) preferred or willing to obtain

  • Experience in process improvement, with a strong ability to assess workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend effective enhancements, including attention to detail and a proactive approach to driving operational excellence

  • Solid experience in the automotive industry, including expertise in vehicle certifications and regulatory compliance processes will be highly regarded

  • Effective communicator with experience working across internal teams and external suppliers
