Sphere Drones is a leading commercial RPAS partner in Australia, having provided sales, training and specialized operation support across all industries for over 10 years. Our mission is to democratize RPAS use through world-first technology products such as our own HubX platform, removing barriers to executing BVLOS flight operations and delivering significant gains in time efficiency and cost reduction on a grand scale. We are currently rolling out HubX systems right across Australia and we are looking for full-time drone pilots to staff our Remote Operations Centre in Sydney, NSW.

About the Role

As Sphere Drones expands our fleet of deployed systems across the country, we are looking for passionate and high-performing individuals to join our team to execute flight operations out of our CASA-approved Remote Operations Centre in Alexandria, Sydney. The role entails the planning, executing and delivering data outputs of drone flights, primarily with a survey/mapping and inspection objective, through consultation with our internal product and customer leads and collaboratively with our customers themselves. This is a permanent, full-time position with the prospect of more variable working arrangements to suit individuals and customer requirements as our fleet expands in the future. This could include shift work to accommodate 24 hour 7 days a week flight requirements. The ideal candidate will already have an IREX rating or BVLOS OCTA accreditation, but we're open to considering individuals who have not yet obtained these qualifications.

Key Duties include

Execute and supervise all allocated flights at the remote operating centre during a shift; including flight planning & tracking

• Accountable for the safe operation of each drone
• Confident with radio communication across aviation networks
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Conduct aerial surveying and mapping tasks from the remote centre
• Process flight data and complete documentation
• Track & maintain all relevant flight and maintenance documentation
• Deliver quality professional services to our clients.
• Maintaining a high level of compliance within CASA regulations and requirements

Skills and Experience

The minimum requirements for candidates to be considered for the role are:

• An RePL and AROC with evidenced flight experience of over 50 hours in the multirotor class
• Willingness to grow, learn & work against a flexible schedule

Desirable qualifications and experience are:

• RPAS experience across any other classes fixed-wing, powered lift, etc)
• Prior experience in general aviation industry (CPL, PPL, ATC, etc)
• IREX Rating or BVLOS OCTA certification
• Experience in a Remote Operating Centre environment from other industries
• A background in geospatial sciences or reliability engineering to support and inform the respective surveying and inspection mission objectives
