About the role

We currently have multiple positions available for Casual Bus Drivers at our Heatherbrae depot. We are looking for passionate people who enjoy driving and want to service their community, whilst delivering the best experience possible to our customers.

A little bit about our rates 

  • $41.01 per hour Weekday (shift loadings - range from 15% - 100% dependant on times of operation throughout the shift)
  • $18.79 attendance allowance paid daily

About us

We currently operate bus service contracts for Transport for NSW in Western Sydney, North Shore and West, Central Coast and North Coast and the South Australian Public Transport Authority in Adelaide's Outer South. With a team of more than 2,800 people, committed to transporting over 47 million passenger journeys each year, we pride ourselves on taking a proactive approach to public transport delivery to ensure that the customer journey is seamless as possible. 

Hours of work

Hours of work and shifts vary from depot to depot. Our casual drivers typically work a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon during the school term. In school holidays there is very limited work available.

These hours are often suited to retirees wanting to re-enter the workforce or supplement income. It is also a fantastic opportunity for people working part-time and wanting more hours.

Eligibility to apply

  • A current and valid Medium Rigid or above driver's licence 
  • A good driving history 
  • Strong communication and customer service skills   
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check, criminal history check and working with children check. 
  • Have a current NSW Driver Authority is highly desired (or be willing to obtain one)

Suitable applicants that do not have the required licence and authority, Busways may offer you:

  • Paid induction and mentor training
  • Attend a Driver Authority Course with Busways and help with the application process
