Gorilla Grind is part of a broader independently owned and growing hospitality group based in Brisbane. Known for our high-quality coffee, fast-paced service, and friendly atmosphere, Gorilla Grind has built a strong following through our Brendale flagship location and our second café at Aspley.

Our cafe at Aspley is located within the Mazda complex and operates primarily as a takeaway and internal customer venue, open Monday to Saturday (5am–5pm), with plans to expand to Sunday trading soon. We pride ourselves on great coffee, fresh food, and friendly, consistent service that keeps our community coming back.

Position Overview

The Café Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at Gorilla Grind Aspley. This role involves leading a small, motivated team, ensuring outstanding customer experiences, maintaining quality standards, and driving efficiency and growth. You'll work closely with the team & head office for support while maintaining autonomy in your day-to-day management of the café.

Key Responsibilities '

Operations & Service

  • Oversee daily café operations including open and close procedures
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and high-quality coffee and food standards
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and stock rotation to maintain consistent supply and minimise waste
  • Maintain café cleanliness, presentation, and compliance with health and safety standards
  • Handle daily cash reconciliation and end-of-day reporting

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and motivate staff to deliver a positive, efficient workplace culture
  • Manage rosters and staffing levels in line with business needs
  • Support ongoing staff development and performance management

Business Development

  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve service, increase efficiency, and grow sales
  • Collaborate with the marketing and operations teams to drive promotions and community engagement
  • Uphold brand standards and contribute to Gorilla Grind's reputation for quality and consistency

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' café or hospitality management experience
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a small team
  • Strong knowledge of coffee, café operations, and food safety
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Hands-on management style with a customer-first approach
  • Ability to work early mornings and Saturdays as required
  • Current Food Safety Certificate preferred
