About the role:

The Retail and Recovery Coordinator is a hands-on role in the daily operations of the Resource Recovery Sector (consisting of re-use shop and resource recovery drop off area) at the Paget Waste Management Centre. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe operations across multiple areas of the site, including shop management, waste diversion and recovery activities, customer service supervision, and operational compliance. The role combines retail management, resource recovery, and team leadership.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinates staff coverage to maintain seamless service delivery.
• Supervising the operations of the ReFindit reuse shop, ensuring excellent customer service is provided and maximising diversion of waste from landfill though the sale of donated items.
• Overseeing the end-of-day reconciliations and ensuring the shop stock is well-presented and maintained.
• Supervise the drop-off area, providing direction to staff on recovery of salvageable and saleable items while supporting customers in safely disposing of goods in compliance with site rules.
• Managing the quality of customer service operations on-site by providing direction and guidance, conducting on-the-job training, while adhering to Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and environmental standards.
• Handling and processing a diverse range of materials (including metals, timber, cardboard, mattresses, oil, car batteries, tyres, paint, and general household goods) in both indoor and outdoor environments.

What we are looking for:

• Maximising the resource recovery through effective salvage and reuse practices.
• Ensuring a clean, safe, and well-managed retail and customer drop off environment.
• Delivering excellent customer service and ensure staff understand and meet all operational and compliance requirements.
• Supporting contract and operational goals by maintaining accurate reporting, safe practices, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance as well as any appropriate information to customers that require assistance with disposing of various types of waste.
