Duration: Until 28 June 2026. Possibility of extension.
Level: 3-4 depending on quals/experience
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and thrive?
We are looking for a dedicated and culturally responsive Youth Case Worker to deliver integrated case management and employment support across two impactful programs:
- Youth Housing and Reintegration Service (YHARS): Supporting young people aged 12–21 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP): Assisting First Nations youth to access culturally safe employment pathways, skills training, and social supports.
This dynamic role will provide holistic support to young people, including those transitioning from care or the justice system, young mothers, and individuals affected by regional job losses. The ideal candidate will be confident in both youth housing case work and employment services, with a strong focus on cultural safety, empowerment, and strengths-based engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver trauma-informed, client-centred case management to young people with complex needs, supporting them to achieve housing stability, personal growth, and career goals.
- Implement individualised case plans across both programs, with a focus on life skills, employment readiness, training, and community connection.
- Coordinate referrals, assess eligibility, and maintain up-to-date records, case notes, and reporting aligned with program KPIs.
- Build strong relationships with Indigenous Elders, community organisations, training providers, and employers to develop culturally safe pathways and placements.
- Provide wraparound support to young mothers and youth displaced from the workforce, including help with driver's licensing, job applications, emotional resilience, and workplace readiness.
- Support the development of youth leadership and empowerment, promoting long-term independence and social inclusion.

You will have ONE of the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, or a related field, OR

- A valid Blue Card (Working with Children)

- A current Driver's Licence
- A strong understanding of youth and social justice issues, particularly those impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills

- Knowledge of the barriers to employment for youth—especially First Nations youth—including intergenerational trauma, housing instability, justice involvement, or parenting responsibilities.
- Skilled in career planning, employment mentoring, and supporting transitions into vocational training and job placements.
