Part time permanent role commencing Term 1 2026

Sholem Aleichem College in Elsternwick is seeking a creative and enthusiastic educator to assist in the operation of our late afternoon and holiday programs.

The OSHC Assistant is responsible for the daily operations of the programs, ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for the children. The role includes assisting the Coordinator in the planning, preparation, and coordination of programs, coordinating staff, and working with children.

Hours of work are 3:00 – 5:30pm Monday through Thursday during term time.

The holiday program runs during non-term times from 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

In addition, there are 2 hours of paid planning time each week.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • experience and ability to establish warm, nurturing and responsive relationships with children and to sensitively meet their needs
  • a high level of initiative
  • ability to plan and efficiently organise time and priorities
  • a working knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of children aged 5-12 years, including children with additional needs
  • ability to deal with the public, families and children in a positive manner
  • understanding of and commitment to child protection policies and procedures
  • reliability in terms of punctuality and professionalism

Essential Requirements:

  • Diploma of Children's Services or equivalent, or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Level 2 First aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma management certification as prescribed in the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010.
  • Anaphylaxis certification.
