We are seeking an experienced Port & Cargo Operations Supervisor to join our Port Kembla team. In this operational role, you will ensure group vessels are managed in line with supplier management standards, internal policies, and reporting requirements. You'll act as an on-site supervisor, providing backup support to ensure compliant, safe, and sustainable port and cargo operations across Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support and physical supervision of vessel port operations across Australia and NZ, including extensive travel as required.
  • Deliver administrative support to the Cargo & Port Operations team, including KPI and performance reporting, and cargo handling equipment optimization.
  • Champion safety and quality initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders to implement best-in-class operations.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on biosecurity, working closely with regulators to maintain compliance and reduce risk.
  • Manage and coordinate non-standard port calls, working with the Shipping Services team to resolve exceptions.
  • Support Sales & Customer Growth, Trade Management, and supplier management (tugs, pilots, surveyors, cargo handling equipment).
  • Drive implementation of core KPIs and performance measures, supporting projects to identify and apply new technologies.
  • Attend and participate in industry seminars and forums related to quarantine, biosecurity, and operational safety.
  • Establish processes and contacts with regulators and public authorities to expedite queries and approvals.

What You'll Bring

  • Operational experience in maritime, terminal, or stevedoring industries.
  • Strong IT skills and proficiency with digital tools and technologies.
  • Supplier management experience (physical and administrative.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel extensively, including outside standard hours.
  • Strong team spirit, business acumen, curiosity, and an innovative mindset.
  • Higher education in maritime or related industries is desirable
