About the role
The Team Leader Stormwater Engineering will provide strategic leadership and coordination of a high-performing team of engineers focused on delivering innovative stormwater solutions across the municipality. This role oversees a broad portfolio of flood mitigation, network capacity enhancement, and stormwater asset management projects, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and forward-thinking team culture.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a passionate and skilled team in the development and delivery of complex flood investigations, capital works, and stormwater programs. The Integrated Stormwater team has recently expanded its portfolio to include drainage maintenance and renewal, positioning it as the one-stop shop for stormwater and the custodian of this critical asset class. The role plays a key part in monitoring team performance, managing budgets, and delivering on strategic objectives, while cultivating strong relationships across Council, external stakeholders, and the broader community.
We are seeking a visionary leader with a proven track record in delivery, strategic initiatives and a passion for innovation. The ideal candidate will bring fresh thinking to flooding and stormwater challenges, champion emerging technologies and methodologies, and embed sustainability principals into all aspects of project planning and delivery. A commitment to continuous improvement, environmental sustainability, and community outcomes will be central to this role.
Skills and experience
- Registered Professional Engineer or on a pathway to registration with a minimum of a Washington Accord recognised accreditation that meets the requirement for registration.
- An experienced people leader who is able to develop and deliver against set objectives and budgets and maintain focus through all programs and projects.
- Excellent communicator with demonstrated ability to prepare succinct written reports.
- Highly developed professional with interpersonal skills, the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external management, staff, and the community.
- A strong collaborator who adds value to the organisation with proven ability to maintain relationships with other stakeholders.
- A strong leader with the ability to engage and lead staff in a positive direction, while setting, developing and promoting a proactive and positive culture.
