We are currently looking for a highly experienced and motivated Workshop Foreman (or Service Manager) to manage a new workshop which will be opening soon, and drive continued previous success

The Role

As the Workshop Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our busy automotive workshop, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of high quality and on-time vehicle repairs and maintenance services

What you'll be doing

  • Manage and coordinate the workflow of the workshop team, including mechanics, apprentices, and support staff
  • Oversee the scheduling and allocation of work orders to ensure timely completion
  • Liaise with customers to understand their needs and provide updates on the status of their vehicle repairs
  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality and safety
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used
  • Identify and address any issues or bottlenecks in the workshop operations
  • Perform regular stock take and stock rotation to ensure accuracy in the software and avoid waste.
  • Quality control of workmanship and road testing of cars when required
  • Assist the Service Centre Manager to achieve KPI targets as set out in the monthly KPI reports.
  • Identify sources causing rework and carryovers and implement solutions to minimize these
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to the workshop team as needed
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop processes and procedures

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Foreman (or Service Manager) within the automotive industry
  • Stable employment history
  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient in the use of workshop management software and tools
  • Relevant trade qualifications or certifications
  • A focus on safety and quality, with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure
