Are you an experienced counsellor, support coordinator, recovery coach, or allied health professional who is ready to step into a meaningful leadership role?

COPE is seeking a compassionate, skilled NDIS Team Leader to support our growing outreach non-clinical team which includes 20+ psychosocial support workers and recovery coaches. This role offers the opportunity to work within a clinical service and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, counsellors, and creative arts therapists.

The NDIS Team Leader will work directly under the Director, participate in governance meetings, and have access to group supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities.

At COPE, we deliver relationally focused and trauma-informed supports that help people feel safe, empowered, and connected. As Team Leader, you will play a vital role in supporting staff, enhancing service quality, and ensuring participants receive thoughtful and effective care.

About the Role

The NDIS Team Leader oversees the daily operations and performance of COPE's psychosocial recovery and community outreach programs.

You will:


• Provide leadership, reflective practice support, and mentoring to staff


• Guide service delivery, documentation, and quality standards


• Support staff with caseload management, billable hour targets, and skill development


• Manage risks, incidents, and NDIS reporting requirements


• Drive continuous improvement, systems development, and team cohesion


• Maintain a small caseload and model high-quality psychosocial practice


• Build strong relationships with participants, families, and stakeholders

This role suits someone who is relational, grounded, organised, and passionate about participant-centred mental health support.

Key Responsibilities

Service Quality & Operations


• Monitor NDIS practice standards, pricing updates, and sector changes


• Lead service improvements and support program development


• Review documentation, participant outcomes, and staff performance


• Ensure safe, ethical, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive practice Team Leadership


• Provide supervision (individual & group), coaching, reflective practice, and onboarding


• Manage staff performance with a supportive, growth-oriented approach


• Facilitate team meetings and foster a cohesive team culture

Participant Outcomes & Practice Support


• Ensure supports align with participant NDIS goals


• Support crisis response and risk management with a calm, grounding presence


• Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports, and outcome tracking

Risk, Safety & Compliance


• Oversee incidents, complaints, and service risks


• Conduct quality reviews and ensure compliance with COPE policies


• Monitor service bookings and resolve billing discrepancies

Stakeholder Engagement


• Maintain strong relationships with families, providers, coordinators, and community partners


• Represent COPE professionally and support service growth and innovation

About You – Essential Criteria


• Minimum 1+ year experience in a similar leadership o supervisory role


• Qualification in counselling, social work, community services, mental health, disability, or related field


• Experience providing psychosocial or NDIS supports


• Demonstrated ability to lead, support, or mentor a team


• Understanding of NDIS legislation, service standards, and documentation requirements


• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills


• Ability to manage competing demands and support staff through change


• Commitment to trauma-informed and person-centred practice

Desirable


• Knowledge or experience in psychodynamic therapy, depth-oriented work, or relational frameworks


• Experience building or developing a team during growth periods


• High-level stakeholder engagement skills


• Experience in service development, auditing, or quality improvement


• Ability to provide reflective practice or support clinical thinking
