YOUR ROLE

The Psychologist sits within the Team Around the Child (TAC) team in the Student Engagement Unit. The TAC is transdisciplinary team comprising Learning Consultants, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist and Occupational Therapists. The focus of this team is to provide short-term targeted support to schools with the transition of students requiring extensive adjustments in their first year of school. This can take the form of professional learning, school consultation, behaviour observation, attendance at Program Support Group (PSG) and assessments.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Psychologist TAC will demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Catholic education and a capacity to realise that mission in the context of the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS) Strategy Plan which promotes strong, shared leadership and a culture of creativity and innovative practice
  • Deliver psychology focused services to support schools successfully transition students with complex needs into their first year of schooling
  • Support to schools can include observations, consultation, coaching assessment, report writing and attendance at PSG meetings
  • Working collaboratively with other members of TAC to provide advice to schools to support the needs of students
  • Development of resources and professional learning for schools to build capacity and understanding of issues pertinent to students with complex needs

ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality
  • A comprehensive understanding and ability to apply current best practice in the assessment and management of psychological and behavioural presentations in an educational setting
  • Extensive experience in supporting leaders and teachers to select and develop strategies for assessment, targeted intervention and to provide adjustments for students with diverse psycho-social and  learning needs
  • Demonstrated evidence of well-developed oral and written communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders including, school leaders and teachers
  • Demonstrated ability to produce, organise and deliver Professional Learning programs using online/blended modes of engagement, asynchronous learning, webinars and online modules
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders

Salary range for this position is $111,913 (Grade 1) - $124,552 (Grade 3) per annum exclusive of superannuation as specified in the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 and may include additional allowances dependent on qualifications and experience.
