Commis Chef at Hyatt House South Melbourne

We are currently seeking a casual Commis Chef to join our Food and Beverage team at Hyatt House South Melbourne. In this role, you will support the Junior Sous Chef and work alongside our kitchen team to deliver consistently high standards of service and quality for our guests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To embrace all Touches of Hyatt and the Food and Beverage Top 20 and ensure its implementation.
  • To respond to the results of the guest feedback and ensure the relevant changes are implemented.
  • To ensure that all dishes from the section are prepared consistently and according to standard recipes.
  • To assist the kitchen team in ensuring those culinary standards comply with Company and Hotel Policies and Procedures and Minimum Standards.
  • To monitor food and operating costs by reducing wastage.
  • To become familiar with all sections of the kitchen to facilitate the flexible use of employees.
  • To ensure that kitchen and operating equipment is maintained to a good standard with minimum breakage.

Your background:

To be successful in this role you will require the following attributes:

  • Certificate of Hospitality III (currently completing, or completed)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage your time
  • The flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
