Dugald River mine is one of the world's top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine's power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women's only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.
Advisor - Sustainability and Environment
Reporting to the Superintendent – Environment, this role will provide strong support for the management of sustainability reporting, compliance, and initiatives at Dugald River Mine (DRM). The role will also provide support for other activities undertaken at DRM to meet internal and external environmental obligations. The role is available on a drive out basis (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa, or a fly in fly out basis (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. The roster is Variable 8/6, 8/6:4/3, 4/3 Hybrid (Onsite / Offsite). An attractive additional incentive is available to employees who live or move into the Cloncurry township.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline at a recognised University.
- Solid experience in data management, report writing, with a preference for candidates with PowerBi, Excel and other systems knowledge.
- Experience with ESG reporting, and audit/assurance processes.
- Broad knowledge in ESG reporting frameworks, including but not limited to IFRS S1 and S2 (ISSB), TNFD, ASRS, GRI and ICMM Performance Expectations.
- Working knowledge of TNFD LEAP methodology, nature baseline management, decarbonisation pathway modelling, and the mitigation hierarchy
- Project management skills to deliver complex, multi-stakeholder assessments and plans (e.g., LEAP, NAP).
- Previous mining, manufacturing, oil and gas or heavy industry experience is viewed favourably.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ensure oversight of compliance with data and reporting obligations at Dugald River through site-specific documentation and governance frameworks aligned with the MMG's Sustainability Framework.
- Coordinate and project manage the site's delivery of the MMG Nature and Climate Strategies, including acting as secretary for the associated working groups, developing RACI matrices, and ensuring alignment with corporate Work Quality Requirements (WQRs).
- Own and manage key sustainability data systems (ENVIZI, Borealis, SAP, IEM, PowerBi, etc) as the site super-user, ensuring data integrity, timely validation, and accurate reporting.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and regular review of core strategic plans, including the site-specific LEAP Assessment, Nature Action Plan (NAP), and Decarbonisation Plan, ensuring they are integrated into the ABP/SDP cycle.
- Support climate scenario analysis and developing or updating monitoring programs for site-specific nature targets.
- Assist environmental team with day-to-day site environmental management and implementing environmental monitoring programs where required.
