About the Program
The hEP program is funded by the Australian Federal Government and is a nationally recognised leader in youth mental health, delivering evidence-based, recovery-oriented services. Our model of care is grounded in the renowned Orygen EPPIC (Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre) framework, ensuring world-class early intervention for young people.
The program is structured across three specialist teams:
- Mobile Assessment & Treatment Team (MATT)
- Continuing Care Team (CCT)
- Functional Recovery Team (FRT)
The Peer Support Coordinator role sits within the FRT.
About you in the role
This role is responsible for appropriately applying personal lived experiences with mental health recovery to aid young people in reaching their recovery goals. This includes providing education, training, and individual support services, to promote a meaningful recovery for every young person.
You will model coach and problem solve with clients based upon peer 'lived experiences' of mental health recovery while working within the multidisciplinary team, including the young person's clinician, to deliver a holistic service.
You will also support the Peer Support Workers through:
- Providing coaching to Peer Support Workers to deliver social recovery focused groups and community events.
- Coordinating and allocation of referrals through regular meetings as well as Clinical Case Review meetings.
- Acting as first point of contact for the Peer Support Workers, for queries within the scope of this position, relating to clients and their families.
- Play a supportive role in the Peer Support Workforce's crisis response and the provision of a home and community-based service.
- Explore opportunities with internal stakeholders to engage clients and their families and establish joint participation activities.
You'll play a vital role in supporting and empowering young people through their recovery journey
About You

Qualifications:
- Working towards, willing to work towards, or completion of a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
Experience:
- Personal lived experience of mental health recovery.
- Comprehensive understanding of the recovery process and ability to appropriately communicate a lived experience.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, independently manage time, plan, and organise own workload.
- Previous experience managing small-scale projects and mentoring/supporting team members.
- Proven ability to guide team members or volunteers in their day-to-day work.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be organised, systematic, thorough, accurate and disciplined. You will be continuing to develop in your area of expertise and be expected to provide innovative ideas to solve problems in your discipline. It is expected that you will possess good skills at navigating a complex organisation, forging relationships, and managing through influence rather than direct authority as required.
