Canterbury Victoria Australia Camberwell Grammar School Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

ABOUT US

Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. We aim to give every student in our care the very best education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a learning community, which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its values: Learning, Respect, Integrity, Courage and Optimism. We are proud of the warm spirit and sense of community that characterises our school family.

Our School campus is located in the leafy inner east suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.

In Junior School, our focus is on knowing and nurturing our students during these critical formative years, providing a solid foundation for future learning.  From Pre-Preparatory to Year 5, teachers deliver an innovative, cohesive and sequential curriculum that reflects an understanding of how boys learn.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a team-orientated, enthusiastic, life-long learner, to join our Junior School, as a Prep Assistant.

Working within our Prep classrooms, you will support the early learning, social and emotional development of our youngest students.

You will work under the guidance of classroom and specialist teachers, providing targeted support to students, including those with specific learning needs. You will work individually or in small groups in and out of the classroom. Some minor administrative duties may also be required. Relevant qualifications and experience working within a school setting would be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support student learning, under the direction of a teacher, with individual and small groups of students to assist them with their learning.
  • Provide close supervision and assistance in classrooms and the playground, including some scheduled recess and lunchtime periods.
  • Work as part of a team, with classroom teachers, and all staff supporting students with additional needs.
  • Actively encourage positive social interactions and respectful relationships among students.
  • Use your initiative to support students to manage and complete tasks, whilst maintaining focus.
  • Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to adapt or modify learning activities to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Accompany students on camps, excursions and other out of school activities when required.
  • Attend professional development sessions specifically targeting strategies and accommodations to meet the needs of students and at the request of the Head of Learning Enhancement.

This is a rewarding role where you have the opportunity to make a significant impact.

If you are passionate about providing tailored support and possess the skills and vision to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.

This is a full time, term time, permanent position, commencing in Term 1, 2026, in a progressive, supportive and well-resourced educational environment.
