Liberty Industrial is an award-winning, international deconstruction and remediation contractor, recognised for delivering complex projects safely, sustainably, and to the highest standards. With operations across Australia and Europe, we foster a culture built on innovation, integrity, and continuous improvement.

We are seeking a Graduate Closures Engineer to join our growing Closure Studies team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to build a strong foundation in mine and industrial closure, working alongside experienced engineers on diverse and challenging projects.

About the Role

As a Graduate Closures Engineer, you will support the delivery of closure studies across a range of mining and heavy industrial sites. You will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of closure work, from early-stage concepts and tender support through to detailed studies, reporting, and client engagement.

Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will contribute technical inputs, data analysis, design coordination and documentation, while developing practical engineering and commercial skills in a supportive, learning-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of closure studies to agreed scope, schedule and budget.
  • Support technical engineering inputs, data analysis and preparation of closure study reports.
  • Assist with cost estimates, schedules and supporting documentation for studies and tenders.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external engineering and environmental consultants.
  • Support engineering design activities across closure, rehabilitation and remediation works.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and development of practical, fit-for-purpose closure solutions.
  • Prepare presentation materials and assist in client meetings and project reviews.
  • Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, including use of GIS and estimating tools.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to HSEQ and compliance.
  • Occasional travel to project sites to gain on-site experience.

About You

  • Recently graduated in Civil, Structural or Environmental Engineering.
  • Interest in mine closure, remediation or heavy industrial projects.
  • Some exposure to engineering design, studies or site work through internships or graduate roles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions and develop technical and commercial capability.
  • Experience with MS Project and/or QGIS may be favourable.

Why Join Liberty Industrial?

  • Development and mentoring from experienced closure and project engineers.
  • Exposure to complex, high-profile projects across Australia.
  • Opportunity to work across studies, projects and site environments.
  • Supportive, inclusive culture with a strong focus on safety and learning.
  • Clear pathways for career development.
