BADAC is facilitating a program of providing Early Childhood Education and Care Services in response to the needs of our community.
Perridak Burron & Yirram Burron - Brown Hill and SebastopolThe Perridak Burron (meaning 'Platypus Children') & Yirram Burron (meaning 'Morning Children') Early Learning Centres will provide a culturally safe and rich learning environment where families and the community are collaborators in each child's learning journey from birth through to school engagement. Perridak & Yirram Burron will combat and support the barriers and factors that impact upon Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families' participation in early year's education. This program initiates the instilling of Aboriginal culture and history on the journey from birth to elder aligning to BADAC's holistic principle.
Yaluk Burron - BallanThe Yaluk Burron (meaning 'River Children') Early Learning Centre will provide a culturally safe and rich learning environment where families and the community are collaborators in each child's learning journey from birth through to school engagement. Yaluk Burron will combat and support the barriers and factors that impact upon Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families' participation in early year's education. This program initiates the instilling of Aboriginal culture and history on the journey from birth to elder aligning to BADAC's holistic principle.
The OpportunityWe are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher who take pride in planning creative and innovative programs for children.
This role is on a Full Time basis, located at our centre in Ballan - Yaluk Burron.
The Early Childhood Teacher predominantly teaches an educationally rich early learning program that provides opportunity for children to reach the educational outcomes set via the VEYLDF in preparation for a smooth and successful transition into formal schooling. The ECT will inspire, lead, mentor and guide kindergarten staff in line with the VEYLDF, NQF and National Regulations, alongside relevant and innovative practices.
The position also drives pedagogical practices aligned to, Yaluk Burron, Perridak Burron and Yirram Burron's values, philosophy, practice principles, policies and procedures, and supports colleagues in their implementation of practices. The teacher will provide leadership in delivering high quality and inclusive programs within the service and have expert knowledge of the VEYLDF as well as the service practice to meet or exceed the National Quality Standard. Working closely with the Service Manager and Educational Leader, you will establish respectful and positive relationships with children, families and the wider community and promote the culture and identity of the service.
You will need to have a sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture with the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people.

The Role
· Plan, implement, supervise, document and evaluate educational programs that are compliant with the National Education & Care Regulations, in line with the VEYLDF, 8AWOL, NQS and Kindergarten Funding Guide.
· Provide direct, appropriate and adequate supervision of children.
· Document, display and update children's individual progress records and ensure these records are accessible to families.
· Ensure buildings, grounds and learning environments comply with DET, PBEL and OH&S requirements.
· Develop appropriate and meaningful relationships with children, families and carers, support agencies, colleagues and the community.
· Act as the Responsible Person when required by the Approved Provider / Nominated Supervisor and provide clear leadership to an educational team.
· Participate, promote and demonstrate effective and positive communication across PBEL.
· Undertake with other staff, preparation, general cleanliness and set up / down of equipment and learning activities.
· Undertake audits and checklists associated with the delivery of an early childhood education program.
· Provide guidance and leadership to early childhood education assistants, students on placement and parent helpers.
· Undertake and participate in evacuation, emergency management and lockdown drills as required.
· Provide general and specific advice and information to families on child development matters, preschool programs, and relevant support agencies.
· Implement PBEL procedures and follow policies as appropriate.
· At all times maintain confidentiality of records.
· Identify, respond and report suspected child abuse and comply with the PBEL Child Safety Policy.
· Participate in all Quality Improvement and compliance processes as required.
· Actively participate in performance reviews and management processes as required.
· Actively participate in meetings including staff meetings, work and project groups as required.
· Demonstrate, participate in and promote effective, professional and positive communication with all stakeholders.
· Provide induction for new employees to the service where required.
· Ensure all OH&S policy, procedures and guidelines are complied with and advise management on potential risks and mitigation strategies.
· Undertake relevant 3 yearly first aid training, annual CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis management and mandatory reporting training.
· Undertake professional development training as per professional performance reviews to further enhance professional practice.
Key Selection CriteriaEssential
· Demonstrated ability to work in a way that promotes Aboriginal people's cultural identity and promotes their connection to family, community and culture.
· Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent as approved by ACECQA and suitable pursuant to the Education and Care National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations Including current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
· Current First Aid – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting or equivalent HLTAID004.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the National Education & Care Services Law and Regulations.
· Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of high quality Early Years educational programs.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the VEYLDF, NQF & NQS.
· Willingness to undertake training in the 8AWOL and implement into professional practice.
· Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills in particular, negotiation and influencing skills.
· Demonstrated ability to direct and mentor staff.
· Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise tasks and meet required timeframes.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and co-operatively in a team environment.
· Pass a satisfactory criminal history record check.
