About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our growing Development team at Huntly. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of skilled professionals to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of our development function. These positions will be offered on a 12 hours 5 panel production roster working 2 days, 2 nights and 5 days off.

These roles will be instrumental in supporting the Mine Development team.  Additionally, these positions will play a crucial role in fostering a strong safety culture within the mining team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring to your team. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment and identify and develop talent to help them grow professionally.

• Drive continuous improvement by using lean methodologies and problem-solving techniques. Work to optimise production processes to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.

• Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations. Prioritise safety as the highest value, conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments.

• Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and success. Use this data to make sound, data-driven decisions.

• Effectively allocate resources and manage budgets to support team objectives. Promptly identify and resolve any operational issues.

• Communicate effectively with your team, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.

What you can bring to the role

• In depth knowledge of Mine Operations (ideally mine development – topsoil and overburden stripping, secondary overburden removal, stockpile and ramp construction, blast pattern preperation)

• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams

• Demonstrated versatility, strong coordinating skills, and capable of rapidly acquiring familiarity with and responding to diverse and changing environments.

• A high level of strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills

• You should hold or be willing to complete Schedule 26 - Statutory Supervisor accreditation. Alcoa will provide support in obtaining accreditation.

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a leadership position or have worked in a similar operation or industry to Alcoa.

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra alumina refinery.
