About the Role

A key purpose of the St Mark's is to make a genuine difference to the overall wellbeing of our school community in addition to supporting students through promoting their cognitive, social, and personal development.

St Mark's Health and Wellbeing Centres support student wellbeing by providing two service areas:

  • Nursing and first aid; and
  • Psychology and Social Work.

The School Nurse is responsible for the provision of first aid and health care to meet the needs of students during the four school terms.  The position requires technical and administrative excellence to achieve optimal wellbeing outcomes for students.

This is a 0.2 FTE (Thursday and Friday) ongoing, term time role.

Responsibilities in relation to the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide emergency care, health assessment and treatment of students during school hours.
  • Administer medication as per School Policy.
  • Supervision and care of students in sick bay.
  • Ensure health care plans are compliant with School policy and provide information to staff about the health care plans of students by ensuring the plans are published on SEQTA.
  • Liaise with the Pastoral Care team regarding student health matters as required.
  • Ensure parents and carers are informed about their child's admittance to the Health Centre, reasons for admittance and health care provided.
  • Ensure students' privacy, safety and comfort.
  • Ensure Health Centre is hygienic, neat and tidy.
  • Organise and maintain medical equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Keep accurate records of students who have visited, stayed or received treatment in the Health Centre.
  • Maintain student confidentiality at all times and file documentation ensuring security, integrity, and confidentiality of data.
  • Maintain first aid kits and provide medical first aid kits for camps, excursions and Departmental needs.
  • Review the medical reports of new students, follow up regarding documentation required and record relevant information.
  • Attend professional development courses when applicable, including Mandatory Reporting training.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Bachelor of Nursing.
  • Current registration with the Nurses Registration Board of WA.
  • Current CPR Certificate.
  • Affiliation with the Independent School Nurses Association.
  • Experience in a similar school environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite applications.
  • Knowledge of SEQTA and Synergetic an advantage.
  • A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check current to within 6 months prior to commencement of employment at St Mark's.
