About the role

This leadership role supports the Parks and Streetscape Operations section in delivering day-labour services for the maintenance and improvement of Council's streetscape areas. The work contributes directly to achieving the community outcomes outlined in the Community Strategic Plan.

As part of the Parks & Streetscape service unit and reporting to the Coordinator Streetscape Landscape Maintenance, you will be responsible for managing staff and overseeing daily operations. You will lead and inspire your team to consistently meet performance targets aligned with individual and team work plans, as well as Council's Operational and Strategic Plans.

You will play a key role in coaching and developing staff, resolving issues, and modelling a commitment to service excellence. Collaboration with the Parks and Streetscape Operations Manager and the Coordinator Streetscape Landscape Maintenance will be essential to ensuring the overall success of the service unit and delivering high-quality outcomes for the community.

Remuneration

$73, $80, % Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant horticultural qualification OR equivalent industry experience in streetscape operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team and its functions to achieve outcomes that address current challenges for the IWC and its commitments to the community.

  • Demonstrated procurement experience.

  • Ability to work without close supervision.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills.

  • Knowledge and skills in staff management, performance management and staff development.

  • Demonstrated experience with field devices (eg. tablets) for managing daily team work plans.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, including the ability to comprehend maps, street signage & work schedules and complete daily report forms.

  • Understanding and commitment to equal employment opportunities, diversity, work health and safety, ethical practice and acting with probity at all times.

  • NSW Class C Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence.

  • Suitable level of fitness to perform the inherent duties of the position.

  • ChemCert or equivalent qualifications

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in Local Government.

  • MR Driver's Licence.
