Primary objective
To promote the wellbeing and mental health status of students through positive behaviour strategies as well as assisting the
schools with the implementation of child protection strategies.
Context statement
Bradshaw Primary School provides education to approximately 430 students from Preschool to Year 6, 40% of whom are
Indigenous. Key priorities include continuous capacity building in Bradshaw's Instructional Model across all curriculum areas
through systematic instructional coaching, collaborative planning and professional learning.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide school-wide leadership in the application of preventative and pro-social positive engagement skills through small
group facilitation.
2. Proactively assist with policy and program development at a whole-school level regarding the mental health and
wellbeing of all students, particularly in regard to trauma-informed practice and restorative practice.
3. Provide professional development for school staff that facilitates whole-of-school approaches focusing on student
wellbeing and resilience.
4. Work in partnership to support whole-of-school approaches to implementation of child protection strategies through
the delivery of mandatory reporting training and child protection education as appropriate.
5. Support consistent implementation of preventative and therapeutic interventions and restorative practice within the
school community.
6. Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school, parents and community.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A tertiary qualification that provides eligibility for registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner
Regulation Agency or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Experience in the
development and delivery of progressive student wellbeing programs, including trauma informed practice and
restorative practice.
- Experience in the provision and management of stakeholder relationships through planning, advice and ongoing
engagement.
- Ability to develop creative and flexible approaches to challenging school behaviours at an individual and group level and
work in partnership to drive implementation of new practices.
- Ability to plan and manage workloads against changing and competing demands.
- Ability to use technology, such as Skype to successfully network with external agencies.
