WANTED: A friendly, creative minister for Tassie's gorgeous North West
The Anglican Parish of Wynyard is a warm and welcoming community with deep roots in the local area. Parishioners are embedded in their town's life, with many involved in service clubs, community groups and volunteering. The church maintains a visible presence in Wynyard through both the witness of its people and its prominent building. The congregation is predominantly older, but has a few younger members and values intergenerational fellowship. The Parish exhibits genuine faith, hope and a commitment to spiritual growth and community connection.
The parish vision is to be: A Church for the Wynyard Region Making Disciples of Jesus. Key priorities from this vision include:
- Deepening discipleship through learning and small groups.
- Reaching younger generations while continuing care for all Parishioners.
- Strengthening community visibility and engagement.
- Cultivating a healing and restorative church culture.
- Supporting the development of new leaders and lay ministry.
As part of the vision the church also launched a new down to earth Sunday afternoon congregation in 2022 aimed at reaching those without church connections, including those of differing abilities. This congregation continued for about 3 years but closed in early 2025 to reassess how best to reach those groups.
A primary school Board Games Group was held regularly over recent years as part of our strategy to reach younger families. It is currently in recess with plans for renewal.
