The Office of the Hon Andrew Gee MP are seeking applications for the ongoing full-time position of Electorate Officer B based in the Member's Calare Electorate Office in Orange, NSW.
The responsibilities of the role are, but are not limited to:
Parliamentary Business
- Assisting with activities to support parliamentary business including legislation, briefing documents and assisting with parliamentary meetings/events.
Marketing & Communications
- Assisting with communication and marketing activities.
- Assisting with production of materials using relevant systems.
Constituent Management
- Responding to constituent phone calls, emails and visitors to the Electorate Office.
- Preparing correspondence in relation to constituent enquiries.
- Responding to enquiries from community organisations and businesses, including liaising and connecting with government agencies.
- Data management using a Customer Relationship Management database.
Other
- Promoting, supporting and maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
- Other duties as required to support the Parliamentarian and the effective operation of the Electorate Office.
Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in relevant area an advantage.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with a broad and diverse range of people across a variety of channels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and record keeping.
- Well-developed organisational ability and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a small team.
- An understanding of the Australian system of government and parliamentary processes.
- Well-developed office administration and IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- Experience in an Electorate Office or similar role is desirable.
Employment conditions
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement which include:
- A commencing salary between $76,910 and $89,793 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An optional additional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
- Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.
Applicants should note the following:
- A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
- The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
- Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
- The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
