Cairns, Queensland, Australia Plena Healthcare Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Why Start Your Career with Plena Healthcare?

At Plena, you won't be "just another graduate." You'll be part of a caring, connected team where your development is a priority. With over 20 years of experience, we're Australia's leading national allied health provider across aged care and community sectors, now proudly part of Australian Unity.

We recognise the need to connect with Senior Clinicians early in your career. We provide over and above Speech Pathology Australia's recommended levels of supervision. We do this through structured 1:1 supervision and a new graduate program. As well as internal and external professional development opportunities

Hear from some of our recent 2025 Speech Graduates about the New Graduate Program
"The New Grad Program is a great way to build up your knowledge as a speech pathologist straight out of university. The program has a wide range of topics, and it has helped me gain a lot of confidence in the clinical decisions I make"
"The new graduate program was an invaluable experience that help build my confidence as an early career clinician working in the RACF setting. It was also great to meet other colleagues around the team that are in similar background/stage in the profession. I feel well supported and it was a safe space for us to learn and reflect on."
Your Opportunity
This is your chance to start strong with Plena Healthcare, where you'll be supported, mentored, and empowered to grow your skills and confidence.

We're seeking a Graduate / Early Career Speech Pathologist (or seasoned professional) to join our welcoming team in Cairns. This role is a steady casual opportunity, offering 1 day per week. Focusing on helping adults in residential aged care improve their swallowing, communication, and quality of life.

You'll work with clients experiencing dementia, Parkinson's disease, stroke, progressive neurological conditions, and age-related changes — all while being guided by experienced clinicians who are so excited to see you succeed

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build your clinical skills with hands-on experience in swallowing and communication assessments
  • Deliver meaningful interventions, both in-person and via telehealth
  • Manage your own calendar and enjoy flexibility in your work hours and locations
  • Collaborate closely with your state-based Team Leader and a national team of supportive Speech Pathologists
  • Participate in regular supervision, mentoring, and professional development
  • Advocate for clients and provide education to families and care staff

What You'll Need

  • A degree in Speech Pathology (or about to graduate)
  • Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport
  • Enthusiasm for working with older adults and a genuine desire to make a difference

Your Graduate Experience Includes:

  • Structured onboarding and clinical supervision (weekly 1:1 support for new grads)
  • $500 external PD allowance + monthly internal PD sessions
  • Dedicated career mentor to help you set goals and grow
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work–life balance
  • $150 annual wellbeing budget
  • Recognition and rewards through Shine Awards (up to $2,000)
  • Additional leave benefits, parental leave, and more

If you're ready to begin your career in a supportive, flexible, and values-led organisation — where you'll make a genuine impact every day — we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now and start your journey with Plena Healthcare.
