Canberra, ACT, Australia Real Response Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Simulation-Based First Aid Trainer – Canberra

Bring your emergency experience to life — empower others, elevate training, and help save lives when it matters most.

Based in Canberra | Casual, part-time or full-time

Travel opportunities across Australia and beyond

Make a real impact using your operational experience

At Real Response, we train people for the kinds of emergencies that don't follow a script.

We create high-intensity, real-world training environments where participants learn to stay calm, and make life-saving decisions. Our trainers are current or former emergency professionals who know firsthand that real incidents don't happen in tidy classrooms — and that preparation matters.

We're looking for experienced paramedics, emergency nurses, fire EMRs, military medics, or other emergency medical professionals who want to share their knowledge and empower others. You'll be delivering our unique, simulation-based training at a variety of client sites across Australia — and potentially abroad. Join our team and help redefine how first aid is taught, understood, and applied.

Who we're looking for:

Someone who's calm under pressure, confident in front of a group, and serious about helping people develop practical, life-saving skills. You bring real operational experience, a strong sense of responsibility, and a grounded, professional approach.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience as a paramedic, emergency nurse, military medic, or similar
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Professional presence
  • A current Police Check and Working With Children Check (or willingness to get them)
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116/40122) — or willingness to obtain. We also have roles that don't require it yet.

What you'll do:

  • Deliver high-quality, simulation-based first aid training
  • Adapt content and delivery style for different client groups, environments and locations
  • Travel to client sites around Canberra, with optional interstate opportunities
  • Receive support and thorough upskilling to enable you to deliver the training

You'll be part of a supportive, energised team, and we'll provide all the equipment, systems, and ongoing training you need to thrive.

Flexibility:

This role is ideal for people who want to continue working with their current employer while making a real impact with Real Response. Whether you're looking for casual, part-time, or full-time work, we offer the flexibility to work around your existing shifts. You can apply your expertise in real-world training scenarios, all while maintaining your current professional commitments.

About us

At Real Response, we do training differently.

We bring together emergency professionals, educators, and creatives to deliver immersive, high-impact training that sticks — because in real emergencies, there's no time to second-guess.

Over a decade ago, our founders Ben and Motti saw a problem: too many people were leaving training without the confidence to act in real-life emergencies. So they set out to change that — creating a new kind of training where realism, confidence, and hands-on experience are at the core.

Today, we're a team of 40+ passionate professionals working across Australia and beyond. We run nationally recognised training in first aid, fire safety, evacuation, mental health, tactical medicine, and security.

We proudly work with organisations such as Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT), Australian Border Force, Australian Federal Police and Defence — From small businesses to high-risk industries and government departments, our reach is wide — but our impact is always personal.

We're not just teaching skills — we're empowering people to save lives.
