About the Role

As a Therapeutic Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the daily lives of children and young people in our care. You will work as part of a small team within a residential home environment, implementing trauma-informed, strengths-based practices that promote resilience and independence.

This is an active, hands-on role requiring emotional intelligence, professional boundaries, and a commitment to child safety.

Availability & Shifts


• Immediate start available


• Permanent part-time roles offered


• Shifts include mornings (AM), afternoons (PM), and active overnight shifts

Key Responsibilities


• Provide consistent, safe, and nurturing care aligned with trauma-informed and therapeutic crisis intervention practices


• Maintain a structured daily routine and supervise activities including schooling, appointments, recreation, and life skills


• Implement individualised care plans and behavioural support strategies


• Record accurate shift notes, incident reports, and observations in line with regulatory and organisational standards


• Collaborate with clinical, casework, and management teams to support goal achievement


• Support the home environment with domestic tasks and transport duties


• Maintain a child-centred approach that values the voice, safety, and identity of each child and young person


• Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive environment that respects the rights, dignity, and cultural backgrounds of all children and young people

Skills & Experience


• Certificate IV in Child, Youth or Community Services


• Experience working with children and young people, preferably in residential care


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches


• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours


• Flexibility to work a rotating roster (24/7 shifts, including active overnight and weekends)


• Valid ACT WWVP, First Aid & CPR, Driver's License, national police check and other necessary valid/ updated documentation as applicable
